In this final part of our preview, we take a look at many of the new features being added, as well as a look at the new in-game chat commands.

New Items

Many new items are being added to the game, including some favorites from Phantasy Star Portable!

Some weapons will be available immediately, but look for lots of new weapons to be released with additional content added to the GUARDIANS Advanced Content over the course of the Summer months.

New Features

Online Status

Create Your Own Status Message

We've done away with preset status messages and you can now input your own!

From the main menu, select "Community" then "Online Status." Here, you can personalize your own status message.

  • Input up to Twenty Characters: You can use up to twenty characters in your status message.
  • Text Displays Above Your Name: Once you input your text, it will be displayed right above your name. Express yourself using the text as a message, or use the characters as decoration over your name.
  • Check Your Friends' Online Status: Anyone you've traded partner cards with can view your card to check your online status.
  • Chat Commands

We've added new chat commands that allow you to activate effects by entering specific text.

Change Your Line Shield While Chatting:

/sl [Attribute] [Number in your Inventory]

    Example: /sl lightning 3

(This switches your line shield to one with a lightning attribute)

The above command will equip the third line shield in your inventory with a lightning-attribute. For example, if you have a "Stellaline," a "Teroline" and a "Catiline" (three different lightning-based GRM line shields) in your inventory, you would be equipping the third from that list, the "Catiline."

If you pick up a line shield dropped by a defeated enemy, the ordering of line shields in your inventory may shift, and your desired line shield may not be equipped.

Equip Weapons From Your Action Palette:

/wp [Number in Your Action Palette]

    Example: /wp 1

If you leave off the number, the first weapon in your action palette will be equipped.

    Add Players to Your Blacklist:

    /BL [User ID]

Perform Male or Female Lobby Actions:

/malt[x]: Perform male action X /falt[x]: Perform female action X

    X can be anything from 0-9, a-z, or f2-f12.

/maltf1, /faltf1 will perform a male and female lobby action (sitting on the ground).

This is the only chat command where a space isn't used between the command and your action choice.

    Call Out Multiple Cards:

/card [Number of Cards to Draw (between 1 and 10)]

If the number of cards is omitted, only one will be drawn.

The deck is stored in your room. No card will be called a second time until all 53 have been called.

    Shuffle the Cards

    /card shuffle

When calling out cards, the same card won't be called a second time until all cards have been called. This command shuffles the deck so that any card may be called again.

Only the owner of the room may shuffle the cards.

    Call out Multiple Dice

/dice [Number of Dice to Roll (between 1 and 5)]

If the number of dice is omitted, only one will be rolled.

Register a Forbidden Word (My Room function)

    /pm ng [Word]

When a registered word is spoken, your partner machine will react.

By omitting the word to forbid, the command can be used to erase a registered word. Only the owner of the room may use this command.

If all players leave the room, the registered words will be reset.

    Word Switching

    /pm ch [Word 1] [Word 2]

When [Word 1] is spoken in a chat, it will be automatically replaced by [Word 2].

    Example: /pm ch Sonic Knuckles

In this example, when you say "Sonic," it will automatically be changed to "Knuckles."

By omitting a word, the command can be used to erase a registered word.

Only the owner of the room may use this command. If all players leave the room, the registered word sets will be reset.

    Create an Opening Word

    /pm top [Word]

After registering a word, anything said will automatically be prefixed by your selected word.

By omitting a word, the command can be used to erase a registered word.

Only the owner of the room may use this command. If all players leave the room, the registered word will be reset.

    Create a Closing Word

    /pm end [Word]

After registering a word, anything said will automatically be followed by your selected word.

By omitting a word, the command can be used to erase a registered word.

Only the owner of the room may use this command. If all players leave the room, the registered word will be reset.

    Play Hit & Blow

    /hitblow [Number of digits (3-9)]

Hit & Blow is a game where you try to guess a random number with a set number of digits.

For example, if you select three digits, a three-digit number will be selected at random. When a three-digit number is said, your partner machine will tell you if you have guessed correctly or give you a hint. You must use these hints to try and guess the correct number.

A hit occurs when the correct number is in the correct digit. A blow is when a number is correct but in the wrong digit. The number in parenthesis to the right is the number of guesses taken.

Once the number has been correctly identified, the game will be over. Your partner machine will announce the amount of time taken as well as the number of guesses and the name of the person who guessed correctly.

If the number of digits is omitted, four digits will be used by default.

Only the owner of the room may use this command. If all players leave the room, the game will end.

    Change Your Online Status

    /os [Word(s)]

The word or words typed will be displayed as your online status. The character limit here is 20 characters. If too many characters are typed, any characters over the limit will not be displayed.

    Example: /os abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz

In the above example, any characters after the first 20 will be automatically removed, and only "abcdefghijklmnopqrst" will be displayed.

Change How Your Name is Displayed

    /name [Display Type]

You can view the various options for display types below.

    • o - Not displayed
    • n - Name
    • l - Name + Level
    • a/i/p - Partner Card number
    • t/k - Type + Type level

If you input something not on the above chart or omit your desired display type, it will default to "Online Status + Name."

Only the first letter will be used, so if you were to type "/name nt," only your name (selection n) would be displayed.

    Your Room

    Replenish Your Shop's Inventory

For items that can be stacked, you will now be able to replenish items for sale in your shop.

Feature: New Storage and Common Box Functions

Items that can be stacked, such as consumable items and synthesis materials, will now be stored in bundles. Also, the number of items your common box can hold will be increased from 32 to 100!

Feature: Moving Between Rooms is Even Easier!

In addition to the ability to move to another room, your vision phone can now be used to travel easily to the rooms of any of your other characters.

Also, after arriving in another one of your character's rooms, you can access their Partner Machine storage. This will allow you to move items between entrances.

However, you will be unable to access your other characters' common storage box.

Additionally, you will be able to use the vision phones in other people's rooms to move to other rooms.

    Other Additions

Equipped Units Will Be Automatically Re-equipped

When you equip a unit, it will be recorded on its specific slot.

If you unequip a line shield and then re-equip it, the units you had previously equipped will be automatically re-equipped as well.

Even if you equip a new line shield, your previously equipped units will be automatically equipped to the new line shield whenever possible.

    Item Lock

You will be able to lock your items to prevent you from accidentally selling them at shops or trading them away.

From the main menu, select "Inventory" and then the desired item. You can now select "Lock" and the item's name will turn light blue.

The item is now locked and cannot be sold, traded or discarded. You can also lock and unlock items from your storage or common box.

If you have a large number of items to lock or unlock, it might be easier to transfer them to storage or your common box first.

Please note: During item exchange missions, attempting to trade in a locked item may sometimes result in an incorrect message stating that the item was traded. However, this will not be the case and you will still have your item.

Things you cannot do with a locked item:
    • Sell it at an NPC shop
    • Place it on the field
    • Upgrade a weapon

    • Use it on a trade mission

    • Place a room decoration
    • Put it inside a room decoration
    • Put it up for sale in your personal shop
